Archives at Lakehead

The Archives has a small collection related to C.D. Howe, Liberal MP (1935-1957) and prominent cabinet minister. These aren’t Howe’s own records.

Daniel Coghlan was a Port Arthur Alderman and president of the Port Arthur Constituency Liberal Association. His papers reflect politics, business, and personal life.

Derek Burney was a Canadian diplomat, who served as Ambassador to the Republic of South Korea (1978-1980) and Ambassador to the United States (1989-1993), and was instrumental in negotiations of the Canada-US Free Trade Agreement and the North American Free Trade Agreement.

The Douglas Fisher fonds represents his time as MP (1957-1965), representing the CCF and then NDP. These records are primarily correspondence on a wide variety of topics.

The Ernie Epp fonds includes not only his work as an NDP, but documents related to the earlier history of the CCF/NDP.

The Frederick O. Robinson fonds includes his service as CCF MLA (1943-1951) and time as Mayor of Port Arthur (1949-1955).

The Jim Bishop fonds consists of NDP campaign and fundraising material, primarily from the 1980s with some later material.

The John Rafferty fonds includes both paper and digital records, and reflects his years as NDP MP (2008-2015) as well as earlier campaigns.

The Paul McRae fonds highlights his years as Liberal MP (1972-1984). The records include both local and national issues.

The Port Arthur Constituency Liberal Association fonds and Port Arthur Women’s Liberal Association fonds (1934-1967).
