Wellness Guide

a guide to wellness initatives at Lakehead Libraries

Casual Reading Collection

The casual reading collection, located on the main floor of Paterson Library, is part of our commitment to supporting wellness initiatives across the university. This collection consists of bestsellers, recent fiction and non-fiction titles, biographies, etc. The loan period is 4 weeks with unlimited renewals.

Chancellor Paterson Soulbowl

Chancellor Paterson Library has partnered with Student Health and Wellness to create a library wellness space! Located in the windowed space in the middle of the main floor, students will find a variety of new initiatives catered to wellness;

  • Casual Reading Collection (located along the wall; outside the space)
  • Comfortable seating
  • Health and Wellness resources
  • Colouring sheets and supplies
  • Puzzles (located outside of the space; on the far side)
  • Therapy dog visits (Wednesdays from 6-7 PM during certain times of the year)

Suggestions for the space are welcome! Please contact Shaylee Dumoulin-Duqoum (sadumoul@lakeheadu.ca) with your ideas.

Orillia Harvie Legacy Library in Simcoe Hall

The Orillia Harvie Legacy Library in Simcoe Hall on University Avenue, is NOT your ordinary library!

Along with access to e-resources like the Criterion movie collection mentioned above, the Harvie Legacy Library has:

Musical Instruments!

We have 3 acoustic guitars

and other stringed

instruments that Orillia

students can borrow.

Painted Rocks!

Now and again during the
school year, the library
hosts a rock painting activity,
and several rocks from past
years can be found on the
library bookshelves.

Puzzles!

We often have a "Relaxation Station" set up on a cart

near the library, where  students work away on our

collection of puzzles.

We also have a few other  items, such as

Kinetic Sand and finger puzzles.
