Screening Title and Abstract

How to Screen Title and Abstract?

At the screening stage, you will keep the references that meet the inclusion criteria for your review and those that you are unsure about. You will dismiss the rest.

Once you've imported your references, you can begin screening.

Covidence is automatically set up for two reviewers but this can be reduced to one if preferred.

The screening section of Covidence consists of four sections:

  • Screening
  • Resolve Conflicts
  • Awaiting Other Reviewer
  • Irrelevant References

During the screening, you can vote YesMaybe or No for each reference. A vote of Maybe is treated as a Yes in case you are unable to decide and you need to review the full-text at the next screening stage.

If you are the first reviewer to vote on a reference, your vote will move it to the Awaiting Other Reviewer list.

Two No votes will move the reference to the Irrelevant References list.

If a reference receives a No and Maybe combination or a Yes and Maybe combination, the reference moves to the Resolve Conflicts list. To resolve conflicts, a 3rd reviewer or adjudicator is required.
