A primary source is a resource that was written or created during the time or event that it is about.

For Example;

  • A letter written by a soldier during World War II
  • A photograph of forest fires in Fort MacMurray, Alberta in 2016/2017  
  • Newspaper article about the first national Truth and Reconciliation Day
