Lakehead University students not physically present on Thunder Bay or Orillia campuses are still provided the following Library services:
For off-campus students, borrowing of most Lakehead University Library-owned material can be done by logging into My Library Account. When you find an item in the Library catalogue that you'd like to borrow, place a request to have the item mailed directly to you via Express Post free of charge.
When your item arrives, you'll be required to sign for it. Return postage will be included, again free of charge. Simply affix the provided postage to a securely sealed return envelope and drop off at any Canada Post location. Alternatively, you may return your books to a nearby university library, if available.
The loan length for items once received is 3 weeks (undergraduate) or 12 weeks (graduate). Please contact the Library to ask for a renewal, if needed. For more information on borrowing, visit library.lakeheadu.ca/services/borrowing.
Alternatively, if you only require a portion of the item (an individual chapter, for example), use the "Request an excerpt or journal article" option instead. If copyright compliant, an excerpt will then be emailed to you in PDF format.
You may also be eligible to borrow from a nearby university library using your Lakehead University student ID card and/or an IUBP (Inter-University Borrowing Project) card. You can obtain your student card online and/or contact the Library Circulation Desk to obtain an IUBP card.
To obtain books or articles not found in the Lakehead University Library collection, you can place a request to have the material obtained from another library via Interlibrary Loan. A RACER account will need to be created in order to place a request.
Once logged into the RACER system, complete a blank request form to place your request(s). Choose "Lakehead - Off-Campus" as your pick-up location at the bottom of the form and be sure to provide your mailing address. Once your request arrives, it will be mailed to you at the address provided or, if in electronic format (e.g. an article), emailed to you.

Simply affix the provided postage to a securely sealed return envelop and drop off at any Canada Post location. Alternatively, you may return items to a nearby university library, if available.

Connecting from off-campus is easy; as soon as you click on any e-resource, you will be prompted with this login screen. Enter your Lakehead University email username and password, and click submit. You should then be connected to the e-resource.
