Math Competency Assessment Essential Resources

We recommend that you review your math skills and use the following Faculty of Education and Education Library resources to help prepare for the assessment:

PRINT TOPS/DECKS Practice Questions are available for borrowing from both Education Libraries,  these include:

Techniques of Problem Solving " TOPS" Decks C, D and AA. Each "deck" contains mathematical problems and solutions. You can request these, in person, at the Education Library on your campus:

Techniques of Problem Solving: Problem Deck C (Grade 5) 

Techniques of Problem Solving: Problem Deck D (Grade 6) 

Techniques of Problem Solving: Problem Deck AA (Grade 7) 

ONLINE & PRINT Singapore Math Challenge Word Problems (available both in print and online): 

Singapore Math Challenge Word Problems are available for Grades 2 to 8 are available both online and in print.  Please visit the Education Library, on your campus,  to borrow the print versions.   

To access the online versions, just click on a title below, and from the next screen,  click on the link that says "Ebscohost Ebooks" (in the middle of the page).   You will be asked to enter a username and password.  Use your Lakehead username and password as instructed on the screen.  Please send an email to edlib@lakeheadu.ca if you have any issues with these links:
