Indigenous Learning - Inuit

Uqausiit is a database created by Inuit Uqausinginnik Taiguusiliuqtiit to document and share information on the Inuktut language in Nunavut - including Inuktitut and Inuinnaqtun.

Inuktitut Ilinniaqta is a community-led Inuktitut learning resource intended to support students in Qikiqtaaluk region.

Since 2004, Pirurvik has developed and delivered training programs that respond to the needs and aspirations of Nunavummiut. We focus on building essential skills that provide students with a deeper appreciation of Inuit knowledge and a stronger sense of Inuit identity.

The Inuinnaqtun language—the foundation of Inuinnait culture—has less than 600 fluent speakers remaining. By most estimates, it is a language that will be extinct in less than two generations.Inuinnaqtun is our link to our Elders and the knowledge, worldview and cultural continuity that is our inheritance. Language revitalization is our path to restoring these things, and with them the wellness of our youth and our communities.

Pinnguaq has been producing Inuktitut language resources and work for over five years now but we’ve rarely taken the time to compile them all in one place. We wanted to create a single summary of the Inuktitut language work we’ve done in the last 5 years so anyone looking for our resources could find them in one place.
