The Climate Change Awareness and Action Kit provides teachers and students with a strong foundation in the science of climate change, as well as tips to encourage students to take action. This kit gives teachers the opportunity to show Canadian students how they contribute to climate change-and demonstrates how everyone can be part of the solution, by using less energy. This resource is designed for high school programs across Canada and can be used in science, social studies, geography and environmental science courses.
A Forest for all is a simulation activity that focuses on development that is sustainable, and on many uses and values of the forest. It considers the views of various individuals and groups as they relate to major expansion proposals by a fictitious company in the Canadian forest industry. The simulation activity asks students to assume the roles of these interested people and to develop their views. They must reach consensus and, in doing so, they experience the process of thinking critically about the various points of view that must be taken into consideration before a decision can be reached.
