Creating a RACER Account - Step by Step

On the library website, find Interlibrary Loan / RACER under Support My Learning and click Register for an account.

Fill in the required information making sure you choose the following options:

Your Location should be Lakehead Orillia

Your group or department doesn't matter too much but choose something close to your program or course subject

Your Institution ID is the Student, Staff or Faculty number found on the front of your Lakehead card

Create a password for your RACER account. Note: We suggest you make this the same as your Lakehead login so you don't forget.

Requesting a RACER Item - Step by Step

To Request a RACER item begin by logging in.

Note: Your Login is your student number and the password you created recently. Please visit the library if you forget your password.

Enter your search terms on the Advanced Search page like you would in the library catalog or an article database

When you locate the item you are looking for, make sure it is correct by checking the edition, year published, volume, issue number and ISBN or ISSN if possible. Once you have confirmed the item click Get It! in the upper right corner.

The following page is a request page.  Scroll to the bottom and make sure the starred fields are filled.

Enter the last date you could use the item.

Choose your pickup location by selecting the library you can most easily visit.
