Atlases and Maps
The library's collection of general and specialized atlases are located on the 2nd floor. Consult Omni for specific titles or ask at the Services Desk.
In addition, the Library has AtoZ Maps Online, a database which includes over 4,000+ maps.
The majority of maps on the Thunder Bay campus are housed in the LU Geospatial Data Centre, (Room RC 2001), in the Regional Centre.
Access to Satellite Imagery
Some satellite imagery for Ontario is available through the Scholars GeoPortal. If you do not find what you need there, please contact Debra Gold at dgold@lakeheadu.ca

Lakehead University faculty, students and staff have access to geospatial resources from Land Information Ontario (LIO) through Scholars GeoPortal.

Access GIS Data and Maps
- AtoZ Maps Online This link opens in a new windowDatabase of proprietary, royalty-free world, continent, country, and state maps. Included in the 4,000+ maps are: political maps, physical maps, outline maps, population maps, precipitation maps, climate maps, and other thematic maps. New maps are added to the collection every month.
- Scholars GeoPortal (See GeoPortal) This link opens in a new windowScholars GeoPortal is geospatial data discovery tool allowing Ontario’s university students and researchers to enrich their teaching and research by engaging with OCUL’s growing collection of geospatial data. The portal offers search, preview, query, download and sharing functionality for datasets licensed by Ontario university libraries, covering such topics as land use, transportation networks, census boundaries, geology, soils, air photo imagery, points of interest (such as healthcare facilities, schools), and more.
